I was trying to come up with some contrasty flower photos the other night using old images and I was not having much luck. After awhile I gave up and throughout the week I kept nudging myself to go shoot some more. Today when I got to work I found a beautiful bouquet of yellow roses on my desk. Later I received another bouquet with star lillies and then later another bouquet of pink roses. I had not expected much to happen on this birthday, however as one can see I was pleasantly surprised!
Now I have kind of just been playing with images until I get tired. I guess the thing about art is there is always going to be someone who likes something. For whatever reason. Images mean different things to different people.
I was sick last week and tried to go out and shoot on my day off. I kind of ran out of energy so I only got off a few shots. This was a pretty bloom that I started transposing over another image. It pretty much took on a life of it's own. Kind of wierd and interesting at the same time I suppose.
Too much negativity has seeped into my blog, so I am moving forward on a positive path. I have always liked this shot, very ornamental. Perfect for a fresh new start.
I am a 42 year old mother of two who has been doing photography since age 15.Prior to digital photography,I had a great deal of dark room experience.I used to use filters, screens and materials in the darkroom that now can be added to a photo with the push of a button. I also did hand painting on my black and white photos and used various toning effects. For now photography is my hobby. In order to get my kids outdoors and happily occupied, I spend a great deal of time exploring the southern California coastline and have shot photos from as far south as Del Mar up to Pismo Beach. I often look for beaches that are not heavily occupied or kind of hidden from the general public. We have been lucky to find some pretty pockets of paradise. In addition to beaches, I often hike through nature reserves, botanical gardens and Japanese gardens as I love plants and flowers. On the other hand, my work often has me driving through some very industrialized areas in Los Angeles, so I may get my camera out and pop off a shot of an old church, building or homeless camp. Sometimes I superimpose my images of industry onto my images of nature as a way of exposing the damage that is done to our planet.
