This is another image from the past that I
worked on. Basically an image of a garage door
with an image of another structure layered on top.
I used this same image of the garage as the basis
for the next photo that I will post. For new work, I am
hoping to take advantage of the holiday tomorrow to
get out to shoot.

Katherine,

I was on Photo.net a minute ago rating some photos and saw your Bus photo. Judging on the abstractness of the photo, I thought you might be someone to understand better and to know the basis of your work. So, I viewed your gallery including this blog site. I especially like this image of the garage--the delicate, multi layering of images provide a surreal impression of both hard stucture and soft light. There's a transcendent quality that is visually pleasing, but probably more important, thought provoking.

I am just getting back to photography after many years of being away from it, at least seriously. I have a new camera as of a few months ago and am largely in the experimental and practice mode, but enjoying all the aspects of it. Sort of hooked, you could say.

I am finding the Photo.net site extremely helpful in seeing what others are doing and to appreciate the spectrum and quality of work out there. The rating and feedback sections are also useful.

Well, hopefully you are doing well in your photography--finding both the time...and the inspiration!

Hi Steve,
Thanks for taking the time to look, think and comment. Your comments are both eloquent and kind. This is actually one of my favorite images. I have tried to replicate with other subject matters, however I have never been able to achieve as you say the surreal effect with the soft light.
I did look at your portfolio and see that you are off to a good start. The nice thing about PN is the comraderie developed amongst the different photographers. I have learned quite a bit since being on the site and have some ongoing dialogues with very interesting people.
So as you are posting new images, let me know and I will pop over to your portfolio to check in. Thanks Again! Katherine

Hi Katherine,

Thank you for taking the time to respond back to me in both venues; here and on PN. I read your kind and supportive comments on my Reflecting Bridge page. Thanks very much. By being part of the online community and having personal contacts, like with you, makes this endeavor of photography that much more challenging, rewarding and real. I suppose it keeps us doing our best.
Sometime I would like to discuss your thoughts on the issue of the industrial world overshadowing the natural world. Your images, I believe, convey the seriousness of this imposition on nature. From order to disorder, from vitality to an imitation thereof.

Anyway, if you have time and interest to talk,we could continue.

Thanks again,
Steve

PS. I placed a few more photos on my gallery. Still trying to align the camera's technology with my eye and sense of what the image should be.

Hey Katherine,

It seemed like your blogspot needed some company...so, here I am viewing one of my favorite images.

Interestingly enough, my first note to you has proved to be true.

Cheers for a good weekend.

Stephen
